Blogs can be used for people to see what is going on with others that they have not seen in a while. A course can use a blog by having students going to the blog and reading up on what is due, asking questions, and such that the public can view.
I agree with you. Blogs can be quite useful in a classroom setting. I think it's awesome that you're into animation. One of my friends recently got his associates in animation!
